Hermann Struck Museum

Visitors Information

The Hermann Struck Museum, located in the artist's historic and restored home, offers a rare glimpse into the life and rich work of Hermann Struck (1876–1944), who is considered one of the most important print artists in Germany and the Land of Israel in the first half of the 20th century. For over forty years of activity, Struck created a wealth of works on paper, mainly in the fields of portraiture and landscape. He immortalized the great spiritual, scientific, and intellectual figures of his time in his portraits, and his most famous work is the iconic portrait of Theodor Herzl. His works represent the vibrant spirit of the early 20th century and reflect a diverse mosaic of figures and landscapes, from the Jewish shtetl to the Zionist dream.

Alongside his artistic work, Struck was an enthusiastic Zionist activist, participated in the Zionist Congresses, and was a partner in key initiatives such as the establishment of the Tel Aviv Museum and the renewal of "Bezalel" in Jerusalem. He was also known as a great teacher of graphic arts, and among his many students were artists such as Marc Chagall, Max Liebermann, and Lovis Corinth.

The House, the Collection, and the Workshops
Struck's home, designed by the renowned architect Alexander Baerwald, was restored and preserved in 2014 in accordance with its original style. The museum's displays integrate original furniture items, personal belongings, books, and works from the Struck family collection, providing visitors with an authentic experience of visiting the artist's home. The highlight of the museum today is the active center for printmaking and paper arts. The center offers the general public a rare opportunity to delve into and experiment with various printmaking techniques, through workshops and courses in drypoint etching, screen printing, and bookbinding.

Come experience unique printmaking and become artists yourselves, even if just for a moment.
